Where we came from:

Heroes & Villains Comics & Adventure started as a wistful dream in 2001. Mike Camp (the owner) was working in a corporate setting and was longing for a way to exit the stiffness of that world. A long-time comic fan, Mike decided it was time to make his hobby something more, and spent the next 18 months planning, sweating, clawing and kicking until that fateful day in November of 2003, when Heroes & Villains finally opened its doors for business.

The first day was nerve wracking to say the least. The store didn't have its first customer until it had been open for more than 2 hours! We were taking a risk by creating a comic store that is decidedly different than the traditional comic venue. We've got uniformed staff, clean and organized shelving, a complex and sustained marketing program, and, craziest of all, a product mix that does NOT include thousands of old comics! But, alas, customers did come, and thankfully, they have enjoyed our vision of what a comic store can be!

What we believe in:

First and foremost we believe in the comic book. We believe in its ability to entertain, educate and affect change in the world we live in. As a means of communication, there are few vehicles that match what the comic book has to offer. Comics can provide a moral compass, they can teach English as a second language, they can enhance a student's literacy level, and they can inspire ones imagination beyond any limit. They can enrich your life artistically, they can give you food for thought, they can challenge your beliefs at their very core. We believe in the comic book.

We also believe in our community. In the modern world, the need to be successful had caused many people to forget the community value systems that were once a part of everyone's life. We want to be a relief from that craziness. When you visit our store, we make it a point to say "Hello!" and remember your name. When you are here, the troubles of everyday life get set aside and the adventures in the comics become top priority. We want to share with you the story you just read, or tell you about one that we're sure you'll love. Comics can provide such amazing life moments that we want to make sure that you have someone to share them with.
